Have you ever considered being a stockbroker or even considered another type of profession in the financial industry? Since it is vital for finance to be started on a base of trust and stabilit y you would expect there to have various types of exams, assessments or qualifications to help ensure clients and consumers of financial products that their own assets are safe and their dealings are trustworthy.

Regrettably as we’ve seen in recent years the existence of certifications and watch-dog groups does not guarantee financial safety and integrity. Sometimes though they can be of benefit, provided they do their job. Once such exam designed to meet the requirements of traders and clients mentioned above may be the series 63 certification test. What exactly is this test about and how does it affect the industry? Let’s appear a little closer.

The Series 63 Exam is used to be known as the GSRE or “General Securities Representative Consultant Examination”. Whatever the name the objective of the exam is to test and certify anyone who will be performing dealings in different kinds of financial securities such as stocks, bonds and so on. The test is governed through FINRA and was introduced because it was experienced that through instituting a validating process the actual financial providers industry could be made more safe for the trading public.

The fee for taking the actual series 63 license exam -assuming you would like to do so- is roughly $250 USD. The exam itself is a 6 hour lengthy, multiple option format check which includes questions about stocks and stock options in addition to how a securities representative might or should meet clients needs and requirements. The exam is split into dual three hour sets with each set or even session that contains some 125 queries. There is also a pre-test whose contents are not counted towards your over all score. Should you decided to take the exam you will need to score 70 % or higher to be able to pass successfully.

The idea with the exam is to grade applicants on their ability to properly interact with clients and customers, transact in various financial instruments and therefore are knowledgeable about stocks, bonds, information of various kinds and so on.

Whilst there aren’t any requirements you will need to be able to take them test drive it is generally accepted that proper education within related financial fields for example business and finance assistance to prepare you with general knowledge that you will find relevant in the exam. FINRA does not give out certificates in order to successful examinees and only people related to FINRA affiliated businesses will find the doorway open for them to take the test.
